James Frail by many measures enjoyed a successful career including becoming a Reserve Infantry Officer (performing Ceremonial Guard on Parliament Hill) while earning a BA in Economics at the University Of Ottawa. On graduation he became a part owner in a small Window and Door Manufacturer (and coder). He moved to London Ontario to earn an MBA from the Ivey Business School and upon graduating hemoved to Toronto to join KPMG Consulting’s Business Transformation Consulting Practice. In 1999 James was recruited by a tech startup as employee 25 and went to San Francisco and after a $100M IPO they scaled and their market cap ballooned to over $1B. When the bubble burst he moved to Calgary for love. James and Elizabeth Stevenson married in 2001 and in 2004 they founded their own consulting practice Stevenson Frail Associates Inc. Clients included billion dollar energy companies and for a period James was a leadership team member for a $1.4B business unit. In 2014 James and Elizabeth both completed Ironman Canada together.
However successful James appeared on the outside, inside he struggled to find a sense of happiness and what was missing continued to elude him.
In 2016 his wife Elizabeth was struck by an SUV while walking across the street and she narrowly escaped death. James took the next two years off to take care of Elizabeth through other surgeries, extensive physiotherapy and couples PTSD therapy. James used the period as a sabbatical for research, and for the deep work of self discovery.
James an Executive Coach and Chairs Peer Advisory Groups for Founders, CEO and Business Leaders.
Join us on Let’s Talk as James shares some of his life lessons and leads our discussion on “what’s keeping you from being happy?”.

It doesn't have to be lonely at the top.
