The Uncommon Ones: How Your Brand Can Live Its Purpose

The playbook of brand has been rewritten. We remember the age where companies didn't want to take a stance as they were afraid of losing customers, reputation, and talent. Having a superior product cured most problems. In the late 2000’s, entrants like Casper, Everlane, Sweetgreen, and Airbnb challenged this assumption and began rewriting the playbook on what it means to be a brand today. Those listed brands understood the modern consumer want more than a transaction. They want a relationship and the chance to be part of something bigger.

Beyond a superior product, today’s consumers want to connect with a company that identifies with their values and integrates them into a community vs. being a nameless face in a crowd. The brands that get this understand how to consistently integrate their mission and values into their product and behaviors.

It’s a tough demand, but we call those that navigate it well “The Uncommon Ones” as they’re the ones rewriting the playbook that everyone is looking to play by.

In this talk, join CEO of ThreeSixtyEight Kenny Nguyen, on the characteristics of “Uncommon Ones” and how you can begin auditing behaviors that live or don’t live with your values.

Kenny Nguyen is the CEO/Co-Founder of ThreeSixtyEight, a creative agency whose mission is to challenge common thinking to create an uncommon future. Over the last five years, the agency has helped underdogs advance their causes through uncommon interactive experiences. Through the success of the agency’s work, ThreeSixtyEight aims to help the perception of their hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a city known for the underdog, become known as the creative epicenter of the south.  Prior to ThreeSixtyEight, Kenny co-founded Big Fish Presentations, a company that focused on ridding the world of boring presentations through high-quality presentation design, presentation coaching, and speechwriting.  During his time at Big Fish Presentations, he co-authored the McGraw-Hill published book The Big Fish Experience: Create Memorable Presentations That Reel in Your Audience, now published in three different languages.  Outside his agency, he is an investor in Soji: Modern Asian restaurant, frequent speaker, and advocate for AAPI professionals looking to find their voice in leadership.

Our C7 microlearning series is focused on how to elevate your career through short training modules. The micro-learnings are bite-sized and actionable. Our participants' goal is to "take action" 1-3 immediate actions after an event. This is in a peer setting where participants help hold each other accountable.
